Mother’s Day Canvas Prints 2026: 21 Picks Mums Actually Want

Leonid Afremov wall art reproductions on archival canvas
Selected works by Leonid Afremov.

Mum doesn’t want another candle. The drawer is full of candles, scarves, and beautifully-packaged hand creams. What goes on the wall, by contrast, gets seen daily. That’s the case for canvas as a Mother’s Day gift — and the case for spending fifteen minutes picking the right one rather than another last-minute Westfield grab.

This guide is twenty-one picks for Australian mums, organised by what kind of mum she is, not by colour or category. Most pieces sit between $80 and $180 — the band where Mother’s Day gifting actually happens in this country.

Mother's Day canvas print in living room

For the Mum who reads novels at the beach (coastal-romantic taste)

1. Rain’s Rustle. Atmospheric, blue-grey, slightly melancholic in a way that suits readers. 60×40cm bedroom or reading-nook size.

2. A Whitehaven or Cape Schanck landscape. Australian beach photography that doesn’t scream “tourist”. More on Australian coastal photography.

3. The Great Wave off Kanagawa. Universally admired, perfectly safe — 75×50cm in a feminine living space.

For the Mum who tends a garden and notices flowers

4. A William Morris botanical canvas. See our William Morris botanicals piece. 90×60cm for a dining or formal sitting room.

5. A peonies-and-hydrangeas floral canvas. From our floral range at 50×70cm.

6. Van Gogh’s Starry Night. Yes, again — because it works, and because Van Gogh’s flower-and-night-sky work is gentle gardener-mum territory. 60×40cm.

For the Mum who’s just downsized (smaller home, considered taste)

Downsizing mums need pieces that fit a 90sqm apartment or a two-bedroom unit. Skip the 120×80cm. Stay between 50×70cm and 75×50cm — and lean toward classical or quiet pieces, not bold modern.

7. Vermeer’s Girl with a Pearl Earring. Refined, never-dates. 50×70cm bedroom or study.

8. Melody of the Night. Soft, romantic — fits feminine apartments.

9. A Monet water-lilies canvas. 60×40cm. See our take on Monet’s impressionism on Australian walls.

For the Mum who has strong opinions about art

Some mums will be horrified by a “safe” Van Gogh print because they actually look at art. These need pieces with provenance and conversation-value.

10. A Frida Kahlo self-portrait. See Frida Kahlo as bedroom art. 60×80cm.

11. Dali’s Persistence of Memory. For the mum who likes surrealism.

12. A Rothko-style colour-field piece. See Rothko’s mid-century revival.

For the Mum who’s also a grandmother

Grandmother-mums often have the wall space and the desire for family content, but the existing photo frames don’t do it justice.

13. A photo-to-canvas of the grandchildren. Photo-to-canvas at 75×50cm. Pick one strong photo — not a collage.

14. A multi-photo collage canvas of the wider family. Our personalised range covers collage formats — typically 90×60cm with 6-12 photos arranged.

15. A personalised name-and-date canvas of all grandchildren’s names. 75×50cm typographic word-art piece for a hallway.

For the working-professional Mum (modern aesthetic)

16. Banksy Balloon Girl Black & White. Sharp, modern, optimistic. Works in apartments and renovated terraces.

17. A Keith Haring line-work piece. See our Keith Haring deep-dive. Bold, contemporary.

18. An architectural B&W photography canvas. From the modern range.

For Christian or spiritual Mums

19. A piece from the Christian art range. Renaissance or contemporary Christian iconography at 60×80cm.

20. Leonardo’s Last Supper. If Mum runs the dining room.

When you genuinely don’t know what to pick

21. The Canvas Prints Australia gift voucher. $150 or $250 denominations. Mum picks. We send it instantly via email — works for Sunday-morning gifts when you forgot. No expiry, no shipping.

Sizing for Mum’s home

For a hallway: 50×70cm or 75×50cm. For a master bedroom: 60×40cm above a bedside, or 75×50cm above the bed. For a lounge: 90×60cm minimum to read at three-metre viewing distance; 120×80cm if the wall is wide and uncluttered. The size-by-room chart has the full breakdown.

Hang at 145-150cm centre-line — that’s the gallery standard and the height most paintings sit comfortably at in Australian-ceiling homes (2.4-2.7m).

Mother’s Day 2026 shipping

Mother’s Day 2026 falls on Sunday 10 May. To land before the day in capital cities, order by Tuesday 5 May. Regional Australia: order by Friday 1 May. Hand-stretching takes 2 business days; transit 2-5. The instant gift voucher option clears any deadline anxiety.

The wrapping problem (and how to solve it for a flat canvas)

Canvas is awkward to wrap. The wrap-and-fold approach used for boxes doesn’t sit cleanly on a flat 60×40cm rectangle. Two options work: kraft paper plus a wide grosgrain ribbon tied off-centre (looks intentional rather than apologetic), or a fabric wrap — a length of linen or muslin in a complementary tone, tied like a knot at the back. Both photograph well and don’t damage the front face. Skip the bubble wrap-and-tape approach; it always looks last-minute.

If the gift is being posted directly to Mum, our shipping cartons are clean enough to ship straight to her — no need to re-wrap. Print a card, slip it inside the box with the canvas, leave delivery instructions in the WooCommerce checkout note and we’ll handle the rest.

What Mother’s Day canvas buyers tell us afterwards

The feedback we hear most often after Mother’s Day deliveries: the photo-to-canvas of grandchildren outperforms every “safe” classical pick when the gift-buyer picks the right photo. The right photo is candid, three-quarter profile, with neutral background — not a posed studio shot. The Whitehaven and Cape Schanck landscapes get displayed in 80% of cases. The William Morris botanicals get displayed in 95% of cases — they’re forgivingly versatile because they fit hallways, dining rooms and bedrooms equally well.

The pick that occasionally misses: a strongly stylised modern piece given to a mum with traditional taste. If you’re not sure where she sits on the modern-traditional axis, the gift voucher beats the wrong guess. Mum will pick the piece she’d actually display, and you’ll get the credit anyway.
