Water Serpents Klimt Classic Art Print. Gustav Klimt was born in July 1862 in Austria, he was a symbolist painter and a prominent member of the Vienna Secession movement. Klimt was famous for his paintings, sketches and murals, his primary subject in his early career was the female form but in his twilight years, he moved away from this and more into landscapes. Klimt started his days early with walks in the woods. Locals even began to call him “Waldschrat” which means somebody who lives on their own in the woods.
This is a print of an original piece of art painted by Klimt in 1907. This painting is often referred to as Wasserschlangen ll and it deals with same-sex relationships and the sensuality of women’s bodies. This painting has a chequered past and recently became the 6th most expensive painting in the world after its sale in 2013. Check out our ever-growing collection of classical art prints here.
Please note that this has slightly sharpened colours, we also offer the more original colour scheme version here.
