The Potato Eaters – Van Gogh Canvas Prints. This is The Potato Eaters created in Nuenen, Netherlands by Van Gogh in 1885. This particular painting is considered to be one of Van Gog’s masterpieces and currently hangs in the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam. Van Gogh’s aim when he painted this masterpiece was to use coarse and ugly models so as to depict real peasants who have earnt their potato meal by gaslight. He wanted the finished article to be real and unspoilt, so pleased was Van Gogh with the painting that he stated at the time he felt it was the best he had done to date.
