Beech Forest by Klimt Framed Canvas Art. Gustav Klimt was born in Austria in1862, he was a symbolist painter and famous for his sketches, murals, and paintings. In his early career, Klimt’s favourite subject was the female body, however, in his later years, he moved more into landscapes. This particular painting was created in 1901 and depicts a Beech forest.
During his stay on Lake Attersee, Klimt started his days early at six am with strolls in the woods, in fact, he spent so much time in the woods that the locals referred to him as “Waldschrat” meaning somebody who walks in the woods by themselves.
